Trend Report
The upcoming spring season gives way to many different trends. Everything from pale to tan and nude to colour. One of these trends are sure to fit your personal style. So go wild or tone it down- this season it’s up to you.
Underground Edginess
The first beauty trend this season is giving way to an underground edginess. It’s about projecting a sense of individuality and a sense of ownership. Hard constructed brows with duo-chromatic lips packed with pigment. Makeup is placed without boundaries for a gorgeous look with non-traditional elements. Gordon Espinet explains ” These makeups are all about one element on the face. Rather than defining the features, it’s almost more about the product being an accent on a practically naked face…it’s minimal makeup, maximum impact, and definitely with an edge.”
Pale N Dandy
Next on our beauty list is the simplest of all the trends. It is being called ’silk stocking’ makeup. It is balanced, beautiful, elegant, and perfect. Bleached brows or very distinct brows start the trend. A brow, or lack of one, is this seasons uncomplicated must have. Use gloss and light-reflective textures on skin, leave lips fresh and free of color, and lashes bare. Minimal amounts of makeup upgrade what’s naturally there for the uber-nude look. It all about pale with a texture to it. Tiffany Johnston says ” Gloss texture on the eye and brushed through the brow is officially the most popular product of the season.”
American Nomad
The most fun summer beauty trend is the american nomad look. Summed up as surfer girls after a day at the beach. California tans in shades of dusty sands. This summer’s girl has eased up on her high SPF obsession and has faced the elements. This is a dusty desert tan not a day at the beach glow. Get laid back, soak in the sun-warmed vibe, and think “discreet and effortless” with a tawny, tan cheek and a gentle take on bronze. Charlotte Tilbury says ” It’s healthy, honeyed, recession-proof makeup…Sports Illustrated ’80s icons and gorgeous athleticism.”
Dye-A-Tribe
Rounding out our beauty list is the fab colour looks. This look is called Dye-A-Tribe and it is being described as a shaft of light through stained glass. For colour this summer , think multidimensional, soft-focused and super-blended in a succulent palette. It’s about colour that looks airbrushed with the softest edges in upbeat colors. Taking the prettiest colours and giving them a rebellious edge. So wear your colour with a cool factor, such as a chromatic shift over the lip or eye. Nadine Luke gives the secret to a super-soft application. “Using translucent, colourless powder mixed with powder blush gives the pigment an even smoother finish that allows the skin just the barest wash of colour with a totally seamless edge.”
