The Geniuses Take Over CBS!

by Brittany Cibotti on October 27, 2011

Television is not something that finds itself into my daily routine too often. Reason being my busy schedule between working at the Hudson Nissan Dealer and finishing up my last year at college. When I do get a chance to sit back and turn on the tube, I make sure that what I am watching is worth my time. I was reluctant to spend half an hour watching a show I have never seen before but, I did and was NOT disappointed!

This new to me comedy is called “The Big Bang Theory“.  Apparently the cast has been filming since 2007 but I have not heard much about the show until just recently. I have seen commercials for it on CBS before and frankly it looked lame. One of the commercials encompasses two nerds having a monotone conversation while eating take-out Chinese food, BORING! However, I spent a few minutes checking it out and it is anything but boring.

The main characters consist of four male geniuses and one female who is an inspiring actress. The contrast between the “dumb blonde” and the “nerds” makes for hilarious interactions. The show follows them through their daily lives and how a “genius” views the world. The dialog is, to put it bluntly, “a bunch of nerd talk”. This adds to the humor of the characters. Their opinions on anything and everything discussed are more thought out than what any normal human would ever think of. This even made me think about some of the things they discussed, like “What is physics really?”. Also, I learned that Fig Newtons were not named after Sir Issac Newton but by a man who lived in Newton Massachusetts. Fun fact of the day right there! The Big Bang Theory is not only funny but educational as well.

You can check out this comedy, not For Nerds Only, on CBS. New episodes airing on Thursdays at 8pm. I guarantee you will find yourself wanting to watch another episode after you finish the first.
