No Sleep For Police Officers

Police officers have a very stressful job which can take a toll on their minds and bodies. A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association has found that 40% of police officers have some sort of sleep disorder. This news is pretty unfortunate, not only for police but for citizens as well. We here at Littleton Nissan dealer think that during the long shifts, police officers should have a designated area to sleep (like firefighters) so that they can energize up before they respond to a call.

Young police officers don’t have such an issue with sleeping, but the older ones can get a bit weary. Not getting enough sleep at night can effect your performance at work. Cops have a very life-threatening job and if an officer isn’t capable of completing their duties it can be very dangerous; especially for people in need of help. If you’re considering becoming a police officer, you should take into consideration that the job may limit your night’s sleep.

If tired cops don’t perform at their best, then we should fix the problem. Having “sleep cells” or little rooms where officers could take a quick snooze if there’s nothing to do would really benefit them and others. I would rather have police officers catch some sleep before they go out than have an exhausted officer trying to do his or her job. Wouldn’t you?
